Customize Your Chat Widget: Placement, Style & Messaging

Your chat widget is often the first point of contact for prospective families visiting your enrollment site. Make it feel like home with custom colors, messaging, and placement options that match your childcare brand.

How to Access Chat Widget Customizations

  1. Navigate to Sites in your Enrollio dashboard
  2. Click Chat Widget
  3. Click New to create a new chat widget, or select an existing one to edit
  4. Choose your chat type: SMS/Email Widget, Live Chat, or WhatsApp Chat
  5. Once created, click into the Widget tab to start customizing

Widget Tab: Look, Feel & Placement

This is where you control how your chat widget appears on your enrollment site.

Style & Branding

  • Chat Launcher: Choose whether to show a prompt message alongside your chat icon
  • Chat Icon: Select from preset icons or upload your own
  • Theme: Pick a pre-built theme or customize colors to match your childcare brand
  • Avatar Images: Upload photos of your staff or logo to personalize the chat experience

Placement & Size

  • Widget Placement: Choose where the chat bubble appears (bottom right, bottom left, etc.)
  • Widget Dimensions: Keep it on auto-size or set custom width and height

Visitor Messaging

  • First-Time Visitors: Set a custom greeting for families visiting your site for the first time
  • Returning Visitors: Create a different welcome message for parents who've been here before

Chat Window Tab: What Parents See

This section controls all the static messages that appear inside the chat window itself.

Welcome & Call-to-Action

  • Chat Window Title: The headline parents see when they open the chat (e.g., "Questions About Enrollment?")
  • Intro Message: A warm opening message that sets the tone
  • Email Collection: Toggle whether you want to collect email addresses before chatting
  • CTA Button Text: Customize your call-to-action button (e.g., "Start Chat" or "Ask a Question")

Branding & Compliance

  • Your Logo: Add your childcare center's logo to the chat header
  • Legal Consent: Add HIPAA or other compliance language if required for your region

Note: The Chat Window tab shows different fields depending on which chat type you selected (SMS/Email, Live Chat, or WhatsApp).

Messaging Tab: Acknowledgements & Language

Fine-tune how your chat responds and what language it speaks.

Contact & Auto-Responses

  • Support Contact Details: Add your phone number or email for offline inquiries
  • Acknowledgement Message: The automatic reply parents receive when they send a message
  • Greeting Message: What the chat says when a parent first opens it

Language Settings

Select the language for your chat widget interface. This updates system messages and buttons to match the language your families speak.

Pro Tips

Already using a chat widget? Your existing widget will appear in the Widget theme options with a light blue indicator.

Brand consistency matters: Match your chat widget colors to your enrollment site and marketing materials. Parents notice the details, and a cohesive look builds trust.

Keep your intro message short: Parents are busy. A friendly two-sentence greeting works better than a paragraph. Example: "Hi! Have questions about enrollment or tours? We're here to help."
