Auto-pilot mode in Enrollio AI helps your childcare center respond to parent inquiries instantly—24/7. Whether it's a midnight text about enrollment or a weekend Facebook message about availability, your AI assistant handles it so you don't have to.
This guide walks you through setting up and optimizing auto-pilot mode to turn more conversations into scheduled tours.
What You Can Do With Auto-Pilot
When auto-pilot is active, Enrollio AI automatically:
- Responds to inquiries instantly across text messages, Facebook, and Instagram
- Books tours automatically by sending your calendar link directly to prospective families
- Collects context by waiting briefly to read multiple messages before responding
- Improves over time with built-in feedback buttons (thumbs up/down) on every response
- Takes breaks when needed if you or an automation sends a message manually
How to Turn On Auto-Pilot Mode
- Click Settings in your Enrollio dashboard
- Navigate to Enrollio AI
- Open the Bot Settings tab
- Select Auto-Pilot as your mode
- Choose which channels to enable: SMS, Facebook, Instagram (or all three)

Configuring Auto-Pilot Settings
Set Your Center's Name
Make sure the AI introduces your childcare center correctly. In the advanced settings, enter your business name exactly as you want parents to see it.
Adjust Response Timing
You can set how long the AI waits before responding (1 second to 5 minutes). The default is 2 minutes, which gives parents time to send multiple messages and lets the AI understand the full context before replying.
Pro tip: If parents typically send just one question at a time, reduce this to 30-60 seconds for faster responses.
Message Limits
By default, the AI will send up to 10 messages in a single conversation before going to sleep. This prevents endless back-and-forth and signals when a conversation needs human attention.
When the limit is reached, mark the conversation as Read to wake the bot back up.

How the AI Handles Different Scenarios
Multiple Messages at Once
When a parent sends several messages in a row ("Hi!" "Is there space for a 3-year-old?" "What are your hours?"), the AI waits for your configured time, reads them all, then sends one comprehensive response.
When You Send a Message Manually
If you or an automation sends a message in an active conversation, the AI automatically goes to sleep for 2 hours. This prevents the AI from interrupting when you're personally handling a conversation.
Booking Tours
The AI's primary goal is getting prospective families to schedule tours. When appropriate, it sends your calendar booking link directly in the conversation.
Training Your AI for Better Responses
The more you train your AI, the better it represents your center. You can train it using:
- Your website content — the AI learns from your enrollment page and program descriptions
- Common questions — add FAQs about tuition, hours, curriculum, waitlists, etc.
- Feedback buttons — every AI response includes thumbs up/down buttons you can use to improve future answers
Training is completely free. For detailed instructions, see our guide on training Enrollio AI.

Pricing
Training your AI and testing it in trial mode is free. Once you activate auto-pilot mode, each AI-generated response costs 5 cents.
Note: An unlimited usage plan is coming soon, which will allow unlimited AI responses per location.
Testing Before You Go Live
Before enabling auto-pilot for real parent conversations, use the trial feature to test how your AI responds to different questions and scenarios. This helps you refine training and ensure the AI represents your center accurately.
Common Questions
Can I use auto-pilot on just text messages, or do I need to enable all channels?
You control which channels are active. Enable SMS only, or add Facebook and Instagram as needed. Most centers start with SMS and expand from there.
What if a parent asks something the AI doesn't know?
The AI will do its best based on training, but if it's unsure, it can escalate to your team. Use the feedback buttons to train better responses for next time.
How do I know when the AI is active vs. asleep?
You can check bot status for individual conversations in your inbox. When it's asleep (after manual messages or hitting the message limit), you'll see an indicator.
Can I make responses almost instant?
Yes. Set the wait time to 1 second in advanced settings. However, this means the AI responds after the first message without seeing if more are coming.
What happens if I want to take over a conversation?
Just send a message manually. The AI will automatically go to sleep for 2 hours, giving you full control.
Next Steps
Once auto-pilot is running, monitor your conversations to see how families respond. Use feedback buttons actively, keep your training updated, and watch your tour bookings increase.
