How to Send a Test Email in Conversations

Creating a Test Contact

Before sending a test email, you'll need a test contact in your account.

  1. Click Contacts in the left navigation
  2. Click Add Contact
  3. Enter a first name and your test email address
  4. Click Save

Sending the Test Email

Once you save the contact, Enrollio automatically opens their conversation page.

  1. Click Send Email at the bottom of the conversation thread
  2. Compose your test message
  3. Click Send

Configuring Your Sender Email

The sender email address appears at the top of the compose window. By default, this shows your logged-in email address.

If You're Using Mailgun

When you use a custom sender email (like info@yourschool.com), replies will route through your Mailgun subdomain. This is normal — replies still appear correctly in your Enrollio Conversations.

For example, if your Mailgun subdomain is subdomain.enrollio.com, the reply-to address will show as info@replies.subdomain.enrollio.com.

Pro Tip: For better email deliverability, use an email address that matches your Mailgun subdomain (like info@subdomain.com). This ensures your sender and reply-to domains align.

You can find your Mailgun subdomain in Settings → Email Services.

If You're Using SMTP Integration

  1. Go to Settings → Email Services
  2. Copy the email address shown in your SMTP integration
  3. Use this as your sender email in Conversations

Depending on your SMTP provider, you may need to set up an alias or verify additional sender addresses:

Troubleshooting Email Delivery

Email Not Arriving

If you don't receive your test email, check your spam folder first. This is the most common issue.

If the email shows an error in Conversations, click the error icon to see the full message. This will show you the exact reason from Mailgun or your SMTP provider.

If the error message isn't clear, contact your email provider's support team with the delivery details. For Mailgun users, you can also check your Mailgun logs directly.

Email Replies Not Appearing in Conversations

After receiving your test email, reply to it and check if the response appears in your Enrollio Conversations tab.

If replies aren't coming through, see our guide: When Email Replies Are Not Showing Up in Conversations.

Pro Tip: Always send yourself a test email and reply to it before launching any email campaigns to parents. This confirms your email setup is working correctly in both directions.
