Chat Widget Notification Sounds

Chat Widget Notification Sounds

Keep visitors engaged with audio and visual alerts when new messages arrive in your chat widget.

The Notification Sound setting plays a sound and shows visual cues when visitors receive messages on your enrollment site — helping reduce missed replies and keep conversations flowing.

What Are Chat Widget Notification Sounds?

Notification Sound is a setting you control in the Chat Widget builder. It manages visitor-facing alerts for new messages on your enrollment site.

This setting applies to All-in-One and Live Chat widgets and is ON by default.

When Notification Sound is ON:

  • A sound plays whenever a supported message appears — including chat replies, welcome messages, form prompts, and redirects
  • Visual cues appear (popups, notification badges, browser tab title updates) to grab attention

When turned OFF:

  • Messages arrive silently without sound or visual interruptions

Why Use Notification Sounds?

Visitor Awareness: Parents are immediately alerted to your replies, reducing missed messages and drop-offs.

Higher Engagement: Timely audio and visual cues keep tour inquiries and enrollment conversations moving forward.

Brand Alignment: Choose whether audible alerts fit your center's communication style.

No Code Required: Toggle the setting on or off without touching your embed code.

Messages That Trigger Sounds

When Notification Sound is ON, sounds play for:

  • Live chat messages: Initial greeting, acknowledgements, chat start confirmations
  • Business hours handling: Outside-hours messages, contact form prompts
  • System greetings: Welcome messages for new visitors
  • Forms and redirects: Contact detail requests, post-submission redirects

How to Adjust Notification Sound

Configure this setting for your All-in-One or Live Chat widgets directly in the Chat Widget builder.

  1. Go to Sites → Chat Widgets and open the widget you want to edit
  2. In the left menu, click the Chat Window tab
  3. Open the Additional Options dropdown
  4. Toggle Notification Sound to ON (recommended) or OFF based on your strategy
  5. Click Save in the top right

If your chat widget is already embedded on your site, refresh the page to see the changes take effect.

Pro Tip: Leave Notification Sound ON for tour inquiry pages where quick responses matter most. Consider turning it OFF for quieter informational pages where chat is secondary.
